Coachella has always been one of my dream festivals. It combines lots of things I am enthusiastic about, specifically sun, palms, heat and, obviously, great deals of performances which are classified with the highest priority on my personal concert wish list.
It is also one of the most fashion-related festivals - and while it is not necessarily a bad thing - I am a fan of experimenting with my style at the festivals a little more than usual myself - it can be problematic.
I suppose some people are just too desperate to show their inner hippie and it most cases just miss the point of what a music festival should be about. Go and see Tyler, The Creator's twitter for reference as it is not my intetion to elaborate on this subject (or the subject of wayy too common mindless cultural appropriation).
Despite all the irritating things about Coachella and its style-related aspect it remains a great source of inspiration.
I decided to focus on artists' outfits and I have chosen the most interesting (at least in my opinion) ones of the first weekend:
Dum Dum Girls were my absolute favourites. Black, sheer fabrics, crop top, badass sunglasses and Dee Dee's embellished tights are simply my definition of coolness. Do I have to mention the attitude?
Austra's Katie Stelmanis chose monochromatic red look and rocked it. I am particularly fond of the accessories - big floppy hat and platform, mary-jane styled shoes.
I love how Temples' look subtly supplements their 60s inspired, but still modern music. The hair, the necklace and the intense colour are the key elements.
Another black look as presented by BANKS. It has serious AHS: The Coven vibes with the long, black, asymmetric skirt, leather top and the hat. And the most perfect chunky shoes.
Arcade Fire's Regine in typical, disco-inspired sequined, shiny dress. I especially like elaborate fringed gloves. Meanwhile the very special guest, Debbie Harry, wears a modest but still brilliant black dress with slight 60s oldschool vibe.
Julian Casablancas may have the tendency to stay in the same outfit for the whole tour or dress as a hip homeless person, but when he dresses good he really does. It is a variation of his typical black jeans + leather jacket combo, but I love the graphic t-shirt, the embellishments on the sleeves and biker boots with boho feel.
Warpaint are simple, efortless and edgy, as always. Look at the Emily's ornamental fingerless gloves (I'm not sure how are they called) and the boots and socks combo or Theresa's brilliant and stylish interpretation of schoolgirl chic. I also loved Stella's dress and Jenny's nonchalant minimalism with the best hair colour.
Kid Cudi decided to try the men crop top trend, which apparently is a thing now. Risky, but he managed to pull it off. Bonus points for the colour, necklace and the tattoos.
Lorde looked just great in the white crop top and (very) baggy trousers. I really like the play with proportions and 90s vibe. The big hair and dark lips add the character, and the minimal jewellery is a nice touch and perfectly brings out the whole stylisation.
Pharrell - it really shouldn't work and yet somehow it does. Great, fun look, of course with the famous hat.
Lana Del Rey wore a simple, bright-coloured dress. But what I liked the most about her outfit was the delicate necklace which looked like a body chain.
