Lorde - talented teenage sensation of recent months caught my eye not only with her modern, eclectic music, but also with her great style. I know it's very soon to talk about her, given she's just starting her career, and her style may change. Moreover, she hasn't been in the spotlight for a long time, so there are not that many of her outfits documented. Nonetheless, I decided to write a post with her style analysis - she's without a doubt an interesting figure, and I'm sensing some really cool influences in her fashion choices.

Gavin Watson for Dr. Martens
Gavin Watson is famous for his outstanding documentation of UK's subcultures, mostly skins and punks. His recent collaboration with Dr. Martens which resulted in series of T-Shirts filled with punk imagery is a perfect excuse to bring up his fascinating photos, on which he managed to capture the spirit of rebellion like no other.

Style Crush - Sky Ferreira
So Sky's debut album is finally out. And despite recent troubles the singer found herself in, it seems to be quite a success (8.1 on Pitchfork and #8 on iTunes - so far). I'm happy for Sky as I genuinely like her. She may be not perfect, but she works hard trying not to fall into the numerous traps of show-business. Her music is a perfect pop with attitude, and she is one of very few people who can pull off grunge-inspired edgy chic.
You're Not the One
While celebrating Night Time, My Time, let's see some of the Sky's best outfits:
Pyzine - Online Archive for Youth Subcultures
Photographic Youth Music Culture Archive (PYMCA) is an unique on-line Social History and Youth Culture Website offering image licensing, on-line learning and research.
It contains thousands of pictures covering virtually all subculters.
Previously accessible only for licensed journalists, now PYMCA launched its own zine.
Py-zine enables everyone to browse through numbers of photos and see authentic teddy boys, mods, ravers, goths and many more.
I highly reccomend visiting it to anyone who wants to find out more about youth culture of previous decades. It perfectly how radical young people used to be while expressing their musical tastes and world view.
Here are some photos that I found especially interesting:
Icon - Patti Smith
I feel that Patti Smith is a perfect figure to talk about in my first post. She is an ultimate punk legend with remarkable voice, who inspired numbers of musicians and writers. She is also a strong, wise person, never afraid to break the gender, cultural, and artistic norms. And, finally, she is one of my biggest role models and style icons.
Actually, Smith is probably many people's style icon, especially in times of recent punk and grunge revival. But I think that pigeonholing her androgynous style as just "punk" is, in a way, an understatement. There is so much more to Patti than that.
While reading her wonderful memoir "Just Kids" I found it fascinating how her fashion choices have always been carefully thought of, and reflected the things that were important to her. She is a fashion inspiration not simply because of what she wore, but also for how and why she wore it. Basically, to dress like Patti you have to have not only right clothes, but also right attitude (which is the case with many other fashion icons, but in my eyes the psychological aspect of their outfits is often ommited).
Enough talking, let's explore and analyze Patti's style:
