Inspiration - My Mad Fat Diary

Since the second season of My Mad Fat Diary finishes tomorrow, and I got way more emotionally involved in this show than I planned to, I decided to make a quick post about the impeccable 90s style, relaying on this great TV series.

Nowadays, it's safe to say that we're experiencing some kind of 90s revival. Not only in fashion, just think about bands like Jagwar Ma or Peace which channel the famous baggy madchester sound in their music. Not to mention reforming "britpop" bands.
Notice how the outfits don't really look dated, in fact you could probably easily buy half of them in Topshop. Fashion and music go in circles and I don't mind it at all.
Anyway, My Mad Fat Diary perfectly captures the moment of nostalgia for the 90s and revives their crazy, cool, and overall incredible style. One of my main inspirations for this post was, besides the show itself, this great tumblr: http://mmfdfashion.tumblr.com/

Let's go back to the July '96.

Floral playsuit, pastels, stripes, bodycon turtleneck dress, leather jacket with band tee and leggings, and finally flannel checked shirt tied around waist and flares. Essence of the 90s in one single picture. And it's only the beginning.

Leather jackets are important. Another option - bomber jacked. Preferably with the dress - I'm so in love with this look. Don't forget about denim skirts. I never thought I'd be ever considering wearing one again...

More denim skirts. Mixed with crop top and white denim jacket it gives great, clean look. Note the accessories - round, big sunglasses, backpacks, toggle necklaces. And lots of tangled bracelets.

Pattern mixing at its best. Plus the Chloe's slightly desperate but also very cool look with faux fur and neon colours.

Chloe truly is rocking those tartan mini skirts. And super high ponytail. Archie is channeling his inner Damon Albarn with beaded necklace, thick-framed glasses and colourful graphic tees.

And the perfection that is Rae's room. Note the T-shirt over long-sleeved blouse and baggy jeans combination.

Somebody said band tees?
